The annual Valentine Ball is
held at the School on a Saturday evening, unsurprisingly on or about the 14th of
February. For one night only, the School Hall is miraculously transformed into a
plush ballroom. The evening is always a very entertaining one, with fine cuisine
and dancing to a DJ and/or a live band.
The Valentine Ball is an extremely popular event, and is always heavily
over-subscribed.
The Valentine Ball typically features a theme. Recent themes have included
masquerade (2008) and 60s/70s/80s (2009).
The 2009 Valentine Ball raised in excess of £5,300.
How can you help?
The transformation of the School Hall requires many pairs of hands. Tables and
chairs need to be arranged, the hall needs to be decorated, and the tables need
to be set. The PA also runs a bar during the evening, which needs to be manned.
After the Ball, the School Hall obviously needs to be returned to its original
state. The setting up is undertaken on the Friday evening and Saturday morning
prior to the Ball. The following Sunday morning witnesses bleary-eyed helpers
returning the hall to its original state.
You can also support the Valentine Ball by coming along in the evening, but in
order to avoid disappointment you will need to ensure that you purchase your
tickets well in advance!
When is the next one?
The 2010 Valentine Ball will be held on Saturday 6th February. The theme will be
"feathers" and the colour scheme this year will be black and gold.
