The Christmas Craft Fair is
an annual event that is traditionally held on a Saturday in mid-November. The
School Hall, Dining Rooms, Gymnasium and a number of classrooms are used to host
a variety of professional stallholders who sell a wide range of crafts and
festive goods. In addition to the 90 or so professional stallholders, the PA
provides refreshments throughout the day and organises a large number of its own
stalls including tombolas, a cake stall, a traditional Santa’s Grotto, and
many more.
As well as being a very popular event for those looking for a bargain or gifts
for Christmas, the event is also popular with the professional stallholders,
most of whom re-book their pitch every year. In fact every year there is a
waiting list of prospective stallholders.
The Craft Fair is a major fundraiser for the PA. It is always a very enjoyable
event, and a very busy day for all concerned!
In conjunction with the Craft Fair the PA runs the Grand
Draw and Reverse Auction, both major fundraisers in their own right.
The
2009 Christmas Craft Fair was held on Saturday 14th November. A magnificent
total of nearly £12,500 was raised, including over £3,800 being raised by
the Grand Draw and Reverse Auction.
How can you help?
The Craft Fair is a major undertaking by the PA and much help is sought from
parents to enable the event to be run. We rely on help to run the PA stalls, to
help in the kitchen, to organise car parking, and to help set up and clear away
tables, chairs, and so on before and after the event. Parents also help by
baking cakes for the cake stall and by donating a variety of items (including
bottles, toys, games, books, etc.) for the other PA stalls.
You can also support the Craft Fair in other ways: by buying tickets for the
Grand Draw and the Reverse Auction, and very importantly, by coming along on the
day.
When is the next one?
The 2010 Christmas Craft Fair will be held on Saturday 13th November at the School.
